Tanzania is a dry place. Physically, spiritually, emotionally….just dry. When we drive down the street few people wave and even fewer people smile. It is about 97 degrees everyday and in the nine days since we arrived I have prayed daily for rain. All types of rain! Physical rain (which finally arrived two nights ago), spiritual rain (Holy Spirit rain down in this place!), and emotional rain (not tears, just love).
God is faithful. That is what He has been teaching me this month. He is faithful in all types of ways including filling me up. He has revealed to me that no matter how dry the place around me is that I am still full of water…living water.
In Matthew He tells us that He prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies. He anoints our heads with oil and our cup OVERFLOWS.
He makes us to overflow so that when we are in a dry place we can simply scoop up what has come out of our glass previously. So far this month I've had to do a lot of scooping.
For some reason I find myself exhausted here. The spiritual battle going on is intense and it straight up wears me out. After a day of ministry all I want to do is sleep for a few hours…But….we live in community. Sometimes sleep is only something to dream about.
I love my team a lot. They are really great. Living in community is good. It forces you to pour out at ministry all day, then come home and pour out even more on the people surrounding you. One beautiful benefit of community is that they also pour into you. God uses my sisters to refresh my soul..and it is beautiful.
God allowed us to share this month with a World Race team! What a blessing this has been! He has put us together to encourage one another and build each other up. He is using us as gasoline to each others' flames for Him. He is lighting fires and raining down His Spirit.
I don't know if you have ever been on fire and soaking wet at the same time..but it is a wonderful thing.
My prayer for this month is to bring refreshment and renewal into this place. To bring the Kingdom to this spiritually desolate place. I want the souls of the people here to match the beauty that surrounds them. Creation is speaking of the majesty of God and it is time for everyone here to start listening.
I think it is appropriate that the wet season here begins in the next few days. This place is about to be saturated physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
"Holy Spirit You are welcome here.
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere.
Your presence God is what our hearts long for,
to be overcome by Your presence Lord."
