it’s the rainy season here in Malawi;
when it rains, all of Lilongwe stops because the roads become rivers of red clay.
it’s a good reminder that we should stop & listen to what God has to say.
to stop & listen to the ways the Lord wants to transform my heart, my team, and the people of Lilongwe. when we leave here… we want this place to be different than the way it was when we arrived.
no one is in a hurry here in Malawi.
everyone gets where they are going when they get there.
it smells different here in Malawi, too.
the smell of garbage welcomes us home everyday.
along with the dogs, chickens, cats, & baby chickies that scavenge about the miscellaneous items & food crumbs along the side of the road/dumping grounds.
the babies here in Malawi are carried on their mothers back all day;
or their brother or sisters back if their moms’ isn’t available because she is working or no longer living.
the christians here in Malawi are dealing with the same temptations as the christians are in america. however, some feel like american christians are loved more because of how much better off we are; how much more we are “blessed.”
they think that…
until we share about our lives..
until we share about our struggles & our heartache.
until we share about how Jesus saved me.. for the same reason He saved you.
it is then they realize that it doesn’t matter where you live, or even what you’ve done.. because Jesus covers you. He meets you where you are & loves you the way you are.
it has been an honor to meet those who have already started following Jesus. I easily forget how important it is to encourage & pray for other believers. how they run into new challenges & have new questions all the time. it’s important to talk about those things; seek wise council; & find truth in what the Word says about it.
orphans & widows in Malawi;
have blessed & encouraged me.
sometimes I struggle with believing the lie that I am walking with the Lord the wrong way. but I am learning that God wants to affirm me & the things that I am doing for Him & for His names sake. in James 1:27 it says, “religion that God our Father accepts as pure & faultless is to look after orphans & widows in their distress & to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
