Saturated With the Wrong Thing

This is our last week in Malawi. I am excited to go…yet…it is bittersweet.

There are things about God everywhere in Lilongwe. Literally. Everywhere. Here are some examples…

“99% God’s Plan Mini Shop”

“Kingdom Come Barber Shop”

“God is Good Bakery”

“Jesus Saves Market”

“God is Great Restaurant”

The place is saturated with words about God. But the people are not. The people are apathetic and indifferent. Jesus and God are just things that places are named after. There is no power in the name of Jesus to them.

Last week we prayed over the streets of Lilongwe. We asked God to continue working here in our absence.

We asked Him to show us what needs to be done in this city.

He told us that refreshment is on the way for this place. A land that is saturated with slogans about Christ will become saturated with the love of Christ. This place is going to be saturated with the Holy Spirit. And every man outside Kingdom Come Barber Shop is going to take notice.

The Holy Spirit is going to invade Malawi. The Christians here will become bold about the Gospel. And the peace of God will reside in this place.

We went to Moses’ church for the last time yesterday. Hope preached and revealed to them the things that God has spoken to our team.

She told them that God is the King of this city! She spoke life into them, and I saw their eyes begin to shine.

She told them that we came to bring them life and to rekindle their relationship with the Savior. And she told them that even though we are leaving the light isn’t.

Then, it was my turn to speak.

God used me to pour truth into their lives. Here in Malawi the people have this idea that because they do not have as many physical blessings as the people in the west that God loves them less.

Got obliterated that lie.

By the end of service the people had not only heard who they are in Christ, they had spoken it out. They claimed their place as children of God that are deeply loved by the King of the Universe!

They realized that they walk in unmerited favor because they are God’s children. They understood that they have been given every gift in the heavenly places.

As we left them, we challenged them. God used us to begin a movement here; He has entrusted them to see it through to completion.

It is their time to be Light and Love in their villages. It is time for them to walk in blessing. It is time for their lives to reflect Christ.

They have grown and changed just as we have over the last month. God has been using them in our lives as mush as He has used us in theirs. Now, as we part, we must both take the things He has taught us to inspire others to love as He loves us.

We love because Christ first loved us.

Lord, I’m amazed by how you love me. I pray that You continue to use my team for Your glory in Tanzania.

Amen.
