I Don’t Want to Be an Elephant

“Lord, you are not an elephant don't let me become an elephant."  – Mike Donehey from Tenth Avenue North WHAT?!? Yep, God is not an elephant, BECAUSE elephants never forget. But God, He forgets! Over and over we are told that God forgets our sins; Jesus bore our sins on the cross so that we mat be forgiven.  So what does that mean for me?  That means that, like God, I should forgive & forget. That means I shouldn't hold someone's past against them. And personally, for me, it means I need to forgive myself; that I need to forget who I was in...

Learning to let go

I came to the camp with an open mind, or at least I thought.    Ready to see God in ways I have heard, but have never seen. As I began to learn more about the importance of worship and the power of prayer I felt strong in The Lord and true connection with the Holy Spirit like never before. This made me believe I had it all together, finally i feel the Holy Spirit move through me like so many others told me about.   But as the days went by and we began focusing on praying over others, my confidence instantly evaporated.   You hear...

Mr. Know-It-All

"At God's command amazing things happen, wonderful things that we can't understand." Job 37:5 I couldn't agree with that verse more. Honestly, I didn't want to come to training camp. I wanted to go straight to Africa. I didn't care about "passing go" or collecting $200. I just wanted to be in Africa.  God had also called me here to this place. I couldn't be more thankful for training camp or more thankful for the opportunity to bond and meet my team. To stand in the presence of God in worship and fellowship, surrounded by others whose hearts...

The Lion of Judah is Thundering Deep

He's roaring down the walls of fear in me. From deep inside this battle cry, He is roaring. And it's good. I've been seeking God intensely during this time at training camp, and He has shown up.                                  I was studying in Romans 8 when I came across verse 21 which says,    "..the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of...

unfamiliar road.

hold on to Me as we go;  as we roll down this unfamiliar road.   – said Jesus, through Phillip Phillips, to me.   each day that has passed by since I made the commitment to go on this expedition, I have felt further & further from Him, the One my soul longs for.   however… I have been comforted by the people I have recently met.. my team.. & other people who have the same desire to see more of Jesus. I have seen brokenness & people who have the same struggles as I do and I am reminded that I am not alone. it's silly, really,...

21 days of silence

As the count down gets into single digits I find my heart beating a little faster. The excitement and nerves are at an all time high. As I sit here typing this I feel Gods tug on my heart already, I went into church today knowing what it would be about, knowing that my pastor would bring up fasting. I went in thinking, I leave for Africa 1/2 way through the fast… this year fasting just isnt for me. But  once again God had other plans. He has called me to have no computer use for 21 days. I will be using the time I would normally use checking my email or being on Facebook diving...
